Viewing and browsing
Full screen, browsing with the arrow keys and the capture time that sits in the picture itself.
Inside an album the photos are laid out as a grid. Tap one and it opens large – on a black background so nothing distracts.
Browsing
The arrows sit to the left and right of the picture. On a computer you can also move through the album with the arrow keys; Escape closes the view. At the top you see which picture you are on ("7 of 42").
What is shown at the bottom
The footer shows the photo's title, who uploaded it – and the capture time.
The app reads this time out of the picture itself, not from the moment of uploading. That is exactly the detail you look for on an old club photo. And it is the reason an album is sensibly sorted even when three people were out with three cameras at a festival: the order of uploading says nothing about that.
Not every picture carries a time
Scanned paper photos and pictures that have already been through several programs often no longer have the detail. The line then simply stays empty.
Downloading
What you see in full screen is the large preview – it is enough for a screen and loads quickly even over mobile data. If you need the original, for printing or for the club magazine, you download it.
Originals can contain location data
Many cameras and phones write the GPS coordinates of the place of capture into the picture. This detail is kept in the original and goes along when you download it. For photos taken on private property it is worth a thought before you pass the file on. The previews in the app do not contain it.
Deleting
In full screen you will find the recycle bin icon at the top. A deleted photo stays in the recycle bin for thirty days and can be restored from there.
Its space only becomes free once the recycle bin removes it for good – see Keeping an eye on storage.
